Grazing Plan Requirements-Due March 1

Your grazing plan can be submitted in a variety of forms (chart, spreadsheet, narrative, combination of the aforementioned), but it must at least have:

  • A written goal—This can be as simple as “decrease cheat grass” or “increase rest periods.”
  • Document Planned Cattle Moves and when pastures are rested
  • Drought Contingency Plan—This can be as easy as saying “Will destock in event of drought” or “Pasture X will be a sacrificial pasture where we feed hay to allow pastures to recover.”
  • Grazing Management Plan must be reviewed annually and either updated or confirmed still relevant. Once you have completed your baseline monitoring, this is a good document to update management actions or changes in your Management Learning Locations (MLLs)

Feel free to email your draft to slidemountainsolutions@gmail.com. As your ORECAL peer leader, I will review and help you submit to Country Natural Beef before March 1.
